Chano Domínguez est l’une des figures majeures du jazz espagnol et l’un des rares musiciens à avoir su intégrer de manière magistrale le langage du jazz et les rythmes du flamenco. Né à Cadix, il découvre très jeune la guitare flamenca, avant de se tourner vers le piano et d’explorer le rock puis le jazz. Cette double culture nourrit un style unique, où alegrías, bulerías, tanguillos ou soleás dialoguent naturellement avec les harmonies et improvisations du jazz.
Avant de fonder son propre trio, il collabore avec des artistes de renom tels que Pepe de Lucía, Potito ou Juan Manuel Cañizares. Sa carrière internationale le mène ensuite à travailler avec des figures prestigieuses comme Enrique et Estrella Morente, Martirio, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Paco de Lucía, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette ou encore Wynton Marsalis et la Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
Parmi ses nombreux albums, on retrouve Chano, Hecho a Mano, Piano Ibérico ou encore Flamenco Sketches, paru chez Blue Note et nommé aux Grammy Awards. Ses projets récents incluent Estándares (2021) et Chabem (2021), réalisés avec des artistes tels qu’Hamilton de Holanda et Rubem Dantas.
Plusieurs de ses œuvres ont été interprétées par de grandes formations, dont la WDR Big Band et l’Orquesta Nacional de España. Chano Domínguez est également triple nommé aux Latin Grammy Awards (2011, 2016, 2023).

Chano Domínguez is one of the leading figures of Spanish jazz and one of the rare musicians to have masterfully fused the language of jazz with the rhythms of flamenco. Born in Cádiz, he first discovered flamenco guitar at a young age before turning to the piano and exploring rock and later jazz. This dual musical heritage shapes a unique style in which alegrías, bulerías, tanguillos and soleás naturally converse with jazz harmonies and improvisation.
Before forming his own trio, he collaborated with renowned artists such as Pepe de Lucía, Potito and Juan Manuel Cañizares. His international career later brought him to work with major figures including Enrique and Estrella Morente, Martirio, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Paco de Lucía, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette, and Wynton Marsalis with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
